Multifaceted climbing around the Valkastiel castle ruins

The Valkastiel castle ruins are located above the municipality of Vandans at around 1,000 metres above sea level in an extremely exposed location. It is uncertain how long ago these ancient walls were built, but what is certain is that there is now a via ferrata park up there, which promises you a varied climbing experience with five routes of varying difficulty.

Gauablickhöhle via ferrata

A spectacular natural cave in the middle of a rock face. Pitch black. The Gauablickhöhle is the highlight of this unique via ferrata.

At the entry point, your gaze is constantly drawn to the mighty peaks of the Drusenfluh, Drei Türme and Sulzfluh. About half-way along the route, you’ll become a cave explorer for a while, immersing yourself into the mystic world of the mountain. Your fingers slide their way along the steel rope and you can just make out the next bend in the tunnel in the glow of your headlamp. After 350 metres you emerge into daylight again – an amazing feeling.
