The Montafon and its mountain villages
Untouched mountain meadows, famous peaks and idyllic mountain villages – that is the Alpine valley in the south of Vorarlberg.
Have you been to the Montafon and are you familiar with the region? If not, here is a brief summary for you: The Montafon has everything to turn a mountain holiday into a real experience all year-round. And for everybody. For families, sports enthusiasts, people interested in culture, nature lovers and those who simply want to enjoy themselves. The wonderful landscape of the 39-kilometre-long valley in Vorarlberg, the most western province in Austria, provides the perfect setting for this.
Bounded by the mountain ranges of the Rätikon, Verwall and Silvretta, the Alpine valley extends from Bludenz south to the Silvretta. The valley gorge is crowned with the highest mountain in Vorarlberg, the 3,312-metre-tall Piz Buin. Between the high summits you will find eleven different tourist locations – ranging from the animated Schruns with the unique pedestrian zone of the valley through to the highest part of the Montafon at over 1,400 metres, Gargellen. With a somewhat similar number of guest beds and locals, life in the Montafon is never silent. Experience it for yourself and explore our homeland!
