Bartholomäberg

Barockkirche Bartholomäberg | 6781 Bartholomäberg
One of the valley’s most beautiful churches is dedicated to St. Bartholomew, the Baroque parish and pilgrimage church in Bartholomäberg. The foundation stone for this house of worship was laid on 26 May 1729 by parish priest Johann Franz Marent. The festive consecration was performed on 6 June 1743 by Bishop Benedikt von Rost from Chur. Bartholomäberg was the first parish in the Montafon around the year 1100. The oldest and most valuable art treasure of the church is the Roman processional cross from the year 1150. A duplicate is on display in Bartholomäberg parish church. Other attractions of this parish church:

High altar of the parish church by Georg Senn, 1737 Late Baroque.
Late Gothic triptych.

St. Anna Miners’ Altar, which according to tradition was donated by local miners. The memorial organ built in 1792 is one of the best-sounding single manual organs in the whole of Austria. It was build by organ builder Johann Michael Graß in the years from 1746 to 1809.
