Vandans
Was destroyed by a dust avalanche in January 2019. Opened its doors again for restricted operations on 28 June.
Following the substantial loss caused by the avalanche in January 2019, the Vorarlberg Alpine Club has gone to great lengths in the past few months to organise daytime and overnight operations for hikers in the Schesaplana and Rätikon area.
Please find the latest information about the daytime and overnight operations during the 2019 summer seasonhere.
The chalet above the Lünersee and at the foot of the Schesaplana.
The Totalp Chalet is located at an altitude of 2,385 m above the Lünersee on a small plateau, surrounded by the magnificent climbing and hiking mountains of the Rätikon as well as the Schesaplana (2,965 m). It was formerly used as accommodation for the workers of the Illwerke, but today it is a popular alpine club chalet.
It takes about 1 to 1 ½ hours to get to the Totalp Chalet from the Lünersee. On the sun terrace, innkeeper Christian Beck’s team indulges their guests with exceptional chalet dishes, freshly prepared with regional produce. And garnished with a wonderful mountain panorama.
Christian has been running the Totalp Chalet together with his family since 2012. He loves being up here. Because you get closer to people in the mountains, he says. You get to know them better. As a matter of fact, you get to know a lot of people, as most of the beds are occupied in peak season.
Culinary recommendation: Topfenlasagne (Curd cheese lasagne)
Christian serves a very special creation for dessert: curd cheese lasagne with vanilla sauce and stewed plums. “This is only available here,” Christian proudly announces, as he came up with the recipe himself. Anyone wanting to know exactly how he makes his delicious curd cheese lasagne had better hit the road.
